In April 2009, the emphasis at Canticle Farm was on planting and transplanting in the St. Bonaventure greenhouse, the two high tunnels, and the field.

Mark extracted 18 month old compost from one of the compost piles to spread on the fields. This is one of many methods Canticle Farm uses to enrich the soil.

Early in April, Mark started plowing the field to prepare for the growing season.

In the St. Bonaventure greenhouse, tomato seeds are germinated in 20 row flats. After a couple of weeks, individual tomato plants are pricked into cells of six packs.

In a couple of weeks, the six packs of tomato plants have significantly grown in the St. Bonaventure greenhouse.

Celery and celeriac root are started in a similar manner.

In the field at Canticle Farm, the garlic that was planted last October is growing fast.

Many volunteers helped transplant the onions in April.
