What's Happening at Canticle Farm? Birds Eye View Photos

The field at Canticle Farm is seen from a different view point in these photos taken from the barn roof in the fall of 2009. The orderly bed arrangement is clear. Some beds still have plants growing and others are cleared after being used for the season. Thanks to Rita for contributing these photos to the web site.

Looking to the left, the Town of Allegany ball fields are visible. The next garlic crop has been planted in the seven beds in the middle of the photo.

The trees are showing their fall colors on the hill.

Swiss chard, kale and lettuce are still growing in these beds directly in front of the barn.

The beds in the middle of the photo are planted with a cover crop for the winter.

One high tunnel and the green house is seen in this photo. The white cloth next to some of the beds is row cover that protects the plants against cold overnight temperatures.

During many early mornings, Canticle Farm is covered by a layer of fog.

This bed of Red Russian kale glistens with moisture from the early morning fog.
