What's Happening at Canticle Farm? Spring 2010 Photos

In March and April 2010, Canticle Farm continued having Vegetable Sales in the barn. Greens for the sales were harvested from the field and high tunnels. Beds of carrots were left in the field over the winter. In March, the crew dug the carrots. Seeding in the green houses continued. Solar panels were installed on the roof of the barn.

Spinach and greens are grown in the high tunnels for the sales and spring CSA shares.

This spinach was harvested in March for one of the vegetable sales.

Everyone at Canticle Farm was excited to have solar panels installed. The  Franciscan Sisters of Allegany (FSA) donated the money for the solar panels from funds raised during the celebration of their 150th anniversary.

Workers install the solar panels on the roof of the barn.

Once everything is fully installed and connected, the solar panels will generate electricity for the cooler, water pump and lights.

In March, flats of onions are growing in the Canticle Farm green house. These will be transplanted in April.

Dave provided much information at the Organic Gardening Workshop in March.

Many books were on display for workshop participants to review.

The sides of the high tunnel are rolled up for ventilation on this beautiful afternoon in March.
