What's Happening at Canticle Farm? Winter 2010 Photos
In January and February 2010, Canticle Farm continued having Winter Vegetable Sales in the barn. Greens for the sales were harvested from the field and high tunnels. Some of the crops such as potatoes and carrots, were stored in a root cellar. Mark and the crew started getting ready for another growing season. Some seeding occured in the green houses.
In January, Mark harvests more kale from the field. The beds are protected by the white row cover.
Dave keeps the produce stocked on the table during one sale.
Row cover provides plants growing in the high tunnels with extra insulation against the cold winter temperatures.
Combining the components of the soil mix together signals the beginning of another year of growing vegetables.
Lettuce and greens mix are already growing in the Bona's green house in early February.
The big planting of the onion family occurs in February. Here Dave seeds onions.
