Join the Canticle Farm CSA Community

When you become a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shareholder of Canticle Farm, you are welcomed into our farm family. The farm is a place where you can make new friends, share recipes, and learn vegetable preparation tips from our farm staff. Join our community of shareholders and embark on a journey of culinary delight, health, and sustainability. With each share, you're not just purchasing produce—you're investing in a farm-to-table experience that nourishes your body and soul, supports local agriculture, and celebrates the vibrant flavors of each season.

With this share, the shareholder commits to a minimum of 10 hours of work alongside the field crew.  Their share price is reduced by $150.  Hands-on shareholders are assigned to a specific task on a regular day of the week/season.  The Hands-On Share application can be added to the customer's basket on GrownBy, and staff will let them know what tasks are available.  The Hands-On Share can be applied to either The Works or The Sampler.

SNAP Weekly Share Payments
Shareholders can register in advance for a share and pay with their SNAP EBT card on a weekly or biweekly basis, during the subscription season June - October.   Please email [email protected] to register.

Frequently Asked Questions

I would like a payment plan.  How do I reserve a share?
A minimum deposit of $100 for The Sampler, or $150 for The Works, will reserve your share.  You will be invoiced by GrownBy for the remainder on June 1, July 1, and August 1.

Can I choose which vegetables are in my share each week?
We offer a lot of flexibility so that shareholders can choose!  We place vegetables on display in categories by variety, and post a sign for shareholders to make choices within each vegetable family.  Occasionally we list a maximum amount for vegetables that are lower in availability.  For example, the greens section might say "choose three options" and the roots section might say "choose two options, maximum 1 quart of beets."

What is my commitment as a shareholder?

By purchasing a share, you become a shareholder of Canticle Farm and agree to share the risks and rewards of each growing season.  This means you are in a reciprocal relationship of understanding with our farmers, knowing that any given season might bring lots of one kind of vegetable and less of another, depending on heat, rain, and so many other factors beyond the farmers' control.  Your commitment allows the farm to make the investment early in the season for seed and labor.  We tremendously value our shareholders!

Where do I pick up my vegetables?
CSA on-farm pickup days are Wednesdays and Fridays at the Canticle Farm Market, 3809 Old State Road, Allegany, NY  14706.  This is also the location of our retail market, so you can buy extra produce and other locally grown farm products at the same time.  We carry cheese, maple syrup, honey, eggs and more in our farm market.

What if I cannot pick up my vegetables during a given week?
Traditional CSA shareholders are welcome to send another person to pick up their share for them.  Shares remaining at the end of the day will be donated to the Olean Food Pantry or other local agency.  Flex CSA shareholders do not have to participate every week and can hold onto the value of their share until they are ready to spend it.

What are my payment options?
Credit cards are accepted on our GrownBy shop site.  Checks are accepted by mail to the Canticle Farm office at the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, 115 E Main Street, Allegany, NY 14706.  Canticle Farm gift cards and Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce gift certificates can be used toward a share.  Shareholders can also register in advance for a share and pay with their SNAP EBT card on a weekly or biweekly basis.
